The Cincinnati Bailliage held its biannual Cellar Treasures event on a blustery evening, Nov. 3, 2019 at the View Event Center in the trendy Mt. Adams neighborhood of Cincinnati.
The View is a newly remodeled and repurposed venue that is perched high on a hill overlooking downtown Cincinnati. It is owned and operated by Michael Forgus of Funky’s Catering. Members in attendance were asked to share an outstanding wine from their cellars while enjoying a fabulous buffet dinner. Throughout the evening, members voted on the best wine of the evening giving that member bragging rights until the next event in two years. Adding more intrigue to the evening, Echanson Provincial Mary Horn chose two mystery wines with a prize going to the member who most correctly identified the wines.
The evening started off with a charcuterie spread enjoyed while gazing out the 12-foot windows onto an impressive view of the Cincinnati skyline. Members were then seated for the buffet dinner featuring an outstanding Osso Bucco, which paired fabulously with many of the wine offerings. Following the dinner, Bailli George Elliott presented Chevaliers Craig and Jim Willis with their 10-year Commandeur pins.
Afterwards Professionnel du Vin Evelyn Ignatow was announced as the winner of the “best wine of the evening”, as well as identifying the mystery wines. Her 2004 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape was truly outstanding. At the end of the evening, Bailli Elliott and all in attendance gave a sincere round of thanks to Echanson Provincial Horn for a phenomenal event.
