While Springfield was still digging out from the foot of snow dropped over the weekend, the annual meeting of the Bailliage de Springfield was convened on January 17, 2019 by Bailli John Dale Kennedy. This year’s meeting was hosted at Boccardi’s Italian Imports.

The major event of the evening was the presentation of the annual scholarship awarded to a student enrolled in the Lincoln Land Community College Culinary Arts (LLCC) program. This year’s recipients were Precious Rolando and Kerstyn Hughes. Each was awarded $1000. As neither was able to attend the festivities, the presentation was made to Dame de la Chaîne Charlotte Warren, President of LLCC, by Vice Chancelier-Argentier Jay Kitterman and Bailli John Dale Kennedy. Vice Chancelier-Argentier Jay Kitterman chaired the program for 20 years, before retiring in 2015.

Members were treated to an array of delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres prepared by owner Maria Boccardi-Andrews. Maria’s father is Lou Boccardi, ner Maria Boccardi-Andrews. Maria’s father is Lou Boccardi, founder of Lou Boccardi’s Restaurant, which has been serving up Italian fare on The Hill in St. Louis for five decades. A great line up of wines complimenting the smorgasbord was provided by Vice Echanson Geoff Bland.

Before business concluded, drawings were held for door prizes. The Bunn steaks were claimed immediately, leaving wine or wine-related prizes for the rest of us, as well as the annual party favor of the always popular Chaîne ear buds and a dual USB charger.
